The theme for this year's Book Week was "Find Your Treasure", and every day in the Middle School Library we ran lots of exciting activities for the students. Led by Captain Russell, teams of scallywags and ruffians competed for pride, glory and chocolate pirate bullion to be crowned the jolliest roger of them all.
BGS also had authors Tim Harris and Lance Balchin join us to talk to the students about their creative and writing process and share some Photoshop secrets.
Congratulations also go to the students who contributed a poster design based on the Find Your Treasure theme. We had many fabulous entries and it was extremely hard to pick a winner.
We hope everyone had a great week and look forward to seeing you in the library and at Book Week 2019!
Now ye come back to the library for more fun each lunchtimes!

Prince Edward visited Brisbane Grammar School today to meet with students participating in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award and to also plant a new tree in honour of the award. He even stopped by the Senior Library to listen to our string quartet. It is the fourth time a member of the Royal Family has stopped by the school.

BGS Library trends for 2018
This year, to complement the presentation of the '150' Photography Competition awards, we also showcased the talents of three amazing piano players at a lunchtime concert. In a magnificent show of ambidexterity, Kai and brothers Remi and Wylie impressed the crowd as they impressed us with their musical abilities.
Check out our video from the performance on our bgslibraryblog.

There are three fantastic Public Purpose projects underway in the Middle School. Year 5 is focusing on supporting the RSPCA; Year 6 is helping to raise funds for our sponsor child through World Vision; and Year 7 are raising funds for the Pyjama Foundation.
The Middle School Library is proud to raise awareness of these issues and the activities being undertaken to support them.
Congratulations to the winners of our 150 Photography Competition. A big thank you to all the students and staff who entered – there were some great entries! Also thank you to everyone who came by for the presentation on Friday.
